Chad Steelberg is Chairman, CEO and founder of Veritone. Chad is a technologist with a life-long passion for Technology and Computer Science. He wrote his first app when he was eight years old and together with his brother Ryan Steelberg, authored over fifty patents.
Under Chad’s leadership, Veritone has created aiWARE, the world’s first operating system for Artificial Intelligence. Prior to Veritone, Chad and his brother Ryan established three successful tech companies: AdForce and 2CAN Media were acquired by CMGI; dMarc broadcasting was acquired by Google. Chad served as a member of Google’s executive team until leaving to explore venture opportunities and launch independent research on Artificial Intelligence. It was during this period of research that he formed the AI insights and scientific inspiration to launch Veritone.
Chad is a strong believer in the power of AI as a force for good. AI-enabled technologies, such as voice and face recognition, are already positively reshaping our daily lives through more effective and intuitive services.
Ryan brings nearly 20 years of executive management experience in technology, marketing, business development and sales. He is considered one of the foremost experts in digital and online advertising. Since 1996, he and his brother Chad have raised more than $180 million in equity financing, managed 400+ employees and created in excess of $3.0 billion in shareholder value, through the successful founding, management, and liquidation of three industry impactful companies.
Pete came to Veritone with an extensive, 30-year background in finance, including six years as CFO of a high-growth, founder-directed apparel company that expanded from five domestic retail stores to over 125 domestic and 30 international stores. He has successfully directed compliance, investor relations, human resources and strategic planning functions in addition to leading major software implementations. Pete also served as partner at a ‘Big 6’ public accounting firm and holds a BS in commerce from Santa Clara University, in addition to being a CPA.
With over 25 years of legal and corporate leadership experience, Jeff is Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Veritone. He was previously responsible for global legal affairs, regulatory compliance and human resources at the Newport Corporation, a publicly-traded company with approximately $600 million in sales and 2,400 employees prior to its acquisition by MKS Instruments, Inc. Jeff received his JD from the University of Southern California and his BA in economics from Duke University.
With over 25 years of corporate organizational and human resources experience, John is Chief Human Resources Officer for Veritone. He was previously responsible for global human resources for Quest, a software leader with $900 million in sales and over 3,800 employees in 60 offices across 23 countries prior to its acquisition by Dell. Prior to Quest, John held senior human resources leadership roles with EMC, 3Com, and Digital Equipment Corporation. He attended Seton Hall University and Regis College and holds a degree in management and leadership. John is a U.S. Army veteran.
Dr. Kohn is focused on extending hybrid systems to quantum control and to rule-based multi-criteria optimization and inferencing. He served as the Head of Research for High-Speed Trading at SEQA Capital Advisors, LP. Previously, he was the Co-Founder, Chief Scientist, and Director at Clearsight Systems, as well as Co-Founder of Kohn-Nerode, Inc. Dr. Kohn served as the Chief Researcher at Lockheed Corporation at NASA Johnson Space Center, Professor of Electrical Engineering at Rice University, and Professor in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Washington. He has twenty-five patents and has authored 4 books and over 300 papers in the areas of optimal hybrid control and quantum control, estimation and learning systems and architectures. He is currently working on a book on Meta-Control and is the developer of ongoing CDI applications. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Al is an enterprise software veteran with over two decades of experience leading engineering teams for top companies, such as IBM, and FileNet. A serial entrepreneur with 4 patents, he has led standards efforts for IBM, including CMIS and other standards. Most recently, Al has founded OspreyData, a pioneer in Predictive Asset Maintenance using Artificial Intelligence. For the past 20 years, he has been building technologies that excel in Artificial Intelligence, Content Analytics, Enterprise Content Management and Business Process Management. Al holds a BS in Mathematics from Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from University of Southern California.
Hong is a consumer software veteran with over two decades of experience leading and developing products for top consumer brands, such as Amazon, Expedia, Groupon, Java, and Apple. A serial entrepreneur with 23 patents, he has successfully co-founded and built Polkast, Memeo, and Visto (now Good Technology). For the past 20 years, Hong has been building technologies that excel in usability, security, and mass market acceptance in local and e-commerce, media management, cloud computing, big data, networking, and mobile software.
